Hike 1 : Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park

Parc-nature du Cap-Saint-Jacques is Montreal‘s largest park, covering 330 hectares in the borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. It offers a variety of outdoor activities year-round, including snowshoeing in winter.

The park offers a 5 km snowshoe trail, considered easy and accessible to all levels.

This loop trail passes through snow-covered forests and skirts the Lac des Deux Montagnes, offering picturesque scenery and an immersion in nature.

Hiking 2 : Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno

 

Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno is a true haven of nature, located just 25 km from Montreal in the Montérégie region. Spanning 8.9 km², this park offers a diversity of landscapes, including five lakes, an orchard with over 2,000 apple trees and a historic mill. Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of dozens of kilometers of trails criss-crossing the forest, including routes dedicated to snowshoeing, but also to cross-country skiing and fatbike riding, offering an immersive experience in the heart of nature.

 

Two snowshoe trails are available: L’Hermine (3.7 km), perfect for a family outing, and La Chouette (1.8 km), an intermediate trail linking the Discovery Centre to the Vieux-Moulin for an immersive forest experience.

Hike 3 : Montagne Noire summit

 

The Montagne Noire in Saint-Donat is a must for snowshoe enthusiasts looking for a sporting challenge. This 12.8 km round-trip trail passes through a beautiful snow-covered forest. It then leads to a belvedere offering panoramic views at an altitude of 875 metres. Along the way, you can also discover the remains of a former plane crash, adding a touch of history to this hike.

The well-marked but demanding route follows a gradual ascent with a vertical drop of 460 meters, making the climb accessible to experienced hikers.
