Education with BougeBouge
BougeBouge’s mission is to fight physical inactivity. To achieve this, we need to educate people about the benefits of adopting an active lifestyle, and the resources and processes needed to do so. BougeBouge works with 3 main targets and adapts its educational approach for each of them: youth, families and seniors.
Find out more about BougeBouge’s educational initiatives with these targets, and how you too can learn more about adopting a healthy, active lifestyle!
School programs
Organize workshops and educational programs in schools to teach young people the importance of physical activity and encourage them to adopt active lifestyle habits. The Adventures projects and several campaigns target schools to mobilize young people around physical activity and promote the benefits of an active lifestyle for future generations.
Recreational Sports Activities
Offer a variety of sports and recreational activities adapted to different age groups and skill levels, such as dance classes, team sports, outdoor activities and more. The BougeBouge Festivals on Île Perrot and in the Outaouais region are good examples of inclusive events where young people can experiment with different sports and activities and discover new passions and interests. The level is highly recreational, and the aim is to encourage participants to adopt healthy habits at an early age.
Competitions and events
To organize sports competitions and events that encourage youth participation and foster a healthy competitive spirit. BougeBouge races are excellent opportunities for young people to take part in friendly, inclusive competition that combines sport and fun. Tools such as music, foam finishers, inflatable games, etc. are used to create a favorable environment around physical activity. Young people who develop an interest in physical activity early in life are more likely to create lasting habits.
Awareness
Set up awareness campaigns focusing on the benefits of physical activity, using media and social networks to reach young people where they are. For example, the Active Brigade mobilizes schools through competitions with prizes awarded randomly in participating schools.
Family programs
Organize programs and physical activities for the whole family, such as hikes, outdoor fields days, family yoga classes and more. All events are designed with the family in mind, so that parents and children can find distance and challenge to suit them. BougeBouge activities are designed to involve the whole family.
Educational activities
Offer workshops, online information and articles on nutrition and the importance of physical activity for family health and well-being. Several articles are created for informational purposes to encourage families to get fit together, easy and healthy recipes are shared in newsletters and tips are posted on social networks.
Family challenges
Offer family challenges and games that encourage regular physical activity, such as a family walking or cycling challenge. Not only are the events a challenge for the whole family, but one-off activities are launched to keep physical activity on the calendar all year round!
Support system
Create support groups for families seeking to adopt a more active lifestyle, where they can share their experiences, challenges and successes, but also create a community around physical activity and a network between active living players. This social mobilization aspect facilitates the integration of physical activity into individual lives by prioritizing community health.
Strenght and conditioning programs for elders
Offer fitness programs adapted to the needs and abilities of seniors, such as gentle yoga classes, swimming, walking, etc. Retiree zones in our events allow the practice of these activities to discover different alternatives for adopting a healthy lifestyle, at all ages.
Intergenerational activities
Organize activities that encourage interaction between retirees and young people, such as sports mentoring programs or intergenerational events focusing on sport and wellness. BougeBouge events are run or walked to be inclusive of older participants. A wide variety of intergenerational participants can be found at each event, allowing everyone to feel included and valued.
Well-being activities and classes
Offer health and wellness courses and workshops specifically designed for retirees, covering topics such as nutrition, stress management, falls prevention, etc. Working in conjunction with senior citizens’ centers enables us to develop activities that are appropriate to their needs and value their efforts. Exclusive areas for seniors at events also make for safe, inviting spaces.
Outings and excursions
Organize outdoor outings and excursions that keep retirees active while discovering new places and socializing with other members of the community.
By tailoring activities and approaches to each demographic group, we can promote an active, healthy lifestyle for young people, families and retirees, while meeting their specific needs and interests.
